Eole, Flo, and Hendrix Di Amaretto Nero, Cara de l'Ile Romande, Dana du Bois des Buis, Lilly, Ouralou, Ouana, Rhea and Ray, and Prisca Di Amaretto Nero, Tao Tenby and Tycho, so many pretty names for pretty stories that were able to come to life thanks to this famous collaboration.

Principle of partnership?

The female dogs do not live with us, but with their owners. However, they allow us to have two litters with their female to help us develop the breed in a family space. The owners do not pay their female dog in money, but the female dog remains at our disposal according to the clauses of a partnership agreement. In this case, we take care of finding compatible males, we organize the matings, and do the whelping at our home. Then, the female stays with us for 2 months with her pups before returning to her real family. For males, it's a little different in that they stay quietly at home and receive females for visits! For this reason, the "male" partnership is different. Owners simply make their dog available to us for breeding in exchange for compensation, and we thus have the opportunity to employ dogs whose past we know perfectly well.

What are the benefits for the breeder?

LThe advantage for us, breeders, is that we have enough females and males to fully indulge in our passion. Barbets are developing very slowly in France, and we do not want to lose the family aspect of our breeding. We currently have 4 Barbets at home, and we believe that this number is sufficient for each to have its place, especially since we refuse to part with our "old" females.

What are the benefits for teachers?

The interest for the owners of a female is to be able to acquire a rare breed dog without spending a euro, and in addition to participating in the development of a breed with a small population. For the owners of males, the pride of putting their dog at our disposal and seeing its offspring is enormous... Adopting a Barbet is not like adopting a Labrador. The Barbet is a rare breed and each dog is precious. Breeders, but also owners have a real responsibility. They must help its development, and to perpetuate the breed, the dogs must reproduce.
It's that simple!

QWhat are the disadvantages for masters?
In France, before breeding, every dog must undergo "Confirmation," have its hips x-rayed, and have its DNA sample taken. These are the first requirements for the dog's owners. But the costs incurred are fully covered by the breeder! Then there's the real difference between males and females...
Male dogs don't have many disadvantages, since it's the female who comes to the male. For female dogs, the whelping and training of the puppies takes place at our home. This means that the owners of the female dog must agree to part with her for a period of 8 weeks. The female dog will be required to have 2 litters according to the contract. We therefore don't ask the owners of the female dogs to do shows; it's already hard enough to part with your dog for 8 weeks...

Examples of contracts...

Often, people who choose the contract formula are aware that they are helping the breed, but most often they do not want to participate in dog shows!
This was the case of Virginie, the mistress of Eole, who lives in the La Rochelle region.
If her Galibot made a "paw" at the show, it's because he was under contract. But, what a pleasure and surprise for Virginie to see her baby win! Eole was best young male at the 2010 National Breeding Championship, CACS at the French Championship, and finally 3rd at the World Championships. He never ceases to fill Virginie with pride.

Virginie works at the Post Office, and she even got an article in her work magazine. And it's all thanks to Galibot. One day, when we no longer dared ask her to participate in an exhibition "outside of her contract," her response stunned us: "Ah! But now, it's not for you that I'm doing it. It's for me." What a nice surprise, she even told us that she would continue to do some exhibitions after her contract!

Floretta and Carole: When Carole chose the partnership formula, she didn't know what she was getting into... Carole quickly became hooked on breeding and showing. And when Flo won Best Young Female at the World Dog Show, she discovered she had a breeder's soul. She was the first Barbet breeder in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg!

Hendrix (Marley) and Larissa: Our Belgian friends have become "addicted" to their young male. He is very promising, and in fact, he already has his TAN...But the best part of all is that the whole family is involved in the education
of the dog. The spoiled little one even gets swimming and handling lessons!
Now retired, he has had two beautiful litters, and thanks to him, Romeo's blood continues its wonderful adventure!

And Cara and Amandine: not everyone becomes "addicted" to the Barbet. Amandine gave us regular updates on Cara. She honored her contract perfectly, and Cara brought joy to Amandine and her children, and what's more, she had two beautiful litters!

Dana du Bois des Buis, who lives in Burgundy, had only one litter, but unfortunately had to be sterilized.

Lilly, daughter of Hobby and Floy, had a magnificent litter in 2018 and gave us eleven little goate pups.

Then we welcomed the litters of Ouana, Rhea, Ray, and Prisca. Today, other young females are preparing to take on the challenges of family breeding with us: Tao and Szoe, so many names that will keep our breeding and the Barbet alive in the future.
